Last week, we have been focused on recruitment! The Year 6 committee members Nat, Megan, Sophie and Oliver are going to be leaving the committee after Christmas so that some other Year 6s can have a chance to be on the committee. We are very sad to leave but have had almost a year on the committee already.
We handed out application forms to all of Year 6 and got a whopping 40 applications back! Almost everyone in the year wants to be on the committee. Then we had to shortlist them and interview 8 eight candidates out of which we chose four.
Introducing the new committee members…
Joe is a very techy guy and knows a lot about computers and will be a great blogger and tweeter. Joe has taken part in our G&T Masterclass and our trip to Chemistry in Action Day where he was interviewed by the Royal Society of Chemistry. He loves learning about new technologies!
Morgan is one of our accomplished Sci Writers and produces some brilliant work! He loves finding out breaking news and reporting it for our lab. Morgan is always smiling and investigating things so we think he will be a great asset to our committee.
Millie is great to work with which was a very important issue to our Year 5 committee members. She is enthusiastic and really excited about being part of our committee. Millie is Ellen’s cousin so let’s hope being a brilliant scientist runs in the family!
Ellie is one of the most dedicated and hardworking students. She comes to the afterschool clubs and works really hard to get things done the right way and on time. We think they are excellent skills for someone on our committee.
We were so impressed with the quality and enthusiasm of the applications we received that we have made Friends of Lab_13 group or as we like to call them- the F.Labs! The Flabs job will be running a special eco-project and also being involved in Lab_13 from time to time. They are Aiden, Poppy, Conor, Ellie Ha, Owen and Corey.
Our new committee members will be starting in January and they have a big job ahead of them. We have to start thinking about ways of finding funding to keep Lab_13 Irchester going after this year.
