Gillespie School is a richly diverse community school which had an OUTSTANDING Ofsted inspection in February 2011. We have recently created a fantastic Science & Technology Lab in our School to house London’s first Lab 13, a space managed by our pupils in which they explore Science, Design and Technology with the guidance of a scientist in Residence.
This advert has been written by the children of Gillespie Primary School’s Lab_13 Management Team.
Could you be our Lab_13 Scientist/Inventor in Residence?
You will need: boundless energy, an evil scientist’s laugh (not essential), patience, wild sticky up hair (not essential, we can sort that out for you when you arrive) and a long white lab coat with iridescent stains on it (essential).
Qualifications: A degree in science, a sprinkle of creativity, a pinch of enthusiasm, a well of curiosity, experience working with children, (don’t worry, we don’t bite!) and…the power to inspire!
We are looking for a graduate, any age, with an in depth specialist knowledge and practical experience of
working in science and technology. You need to be a creative thinker, used to inventing or making things, carrying out experiments, familiar with working with children, a confident communicator and open to being
guided by the curiosity of young people.
Visits to the school are positively encouraged and can be arranged by calling the school office on 020 7226 6840.
Closing date for applications: Midnight, Sunday 3rd November 2013
Interview dates: Thursday 14th and Friday 15th November 2013
Gillespie Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
