Egg candler

The Egg Candler allows you to see what is happening inside the egg. You shine the L E D light on to the egg very gently and you can see the different part forming a chick. The L E D light is very bright and white. It is not like a normal light bulb as the L E D light is cooler. The L E D light has to be cooler because the eggs are already warm and you need to put the eggs at a specific temperature as it might cook if the light is too hot.

Candling the eggs

When the children from Gillespie come to see the eggs, they will have an egg and an L E D light to see the parts. We have tested this on an egg as a result we found that a white egg let you see the chickĀ forming (veins).

Brown egg being candled - can't see much

But on the brown egg it was quite hard to see the parts forming as the shell was thicker and darker so it absorbs the light more.
