The chicks are about to hatch any moment now, how exciting. We have seen them wobble a lot, but they haven’t quite cracked yet. This is the link to watch the live stream: http://5.150.101.29:86/live.html and the twitter feed as well for news: https://twitter.com/Lab_13Gillespie.

One of the chick-runs – this one even has a toilet!

Some people from Y5 and Y6 have joined STEM club in Lab_13, run by Carole, because they are interested in science, and want to learn more.

We interviewed Ella from Gillespie to find out what she thought of STEM club. She stated, “I think it’s really fun, and I like how Carole involves all our ideas into sessions so we can learn more. I really enjoyed making the chicken runs and catapults.”

Next week, STEM club will continue making their chick-runs, which we will test to find out which ones the chicks prefer.

Bridge competition

The Bridge competition will sadly finish this week, on Friday. Once again, we interviewed Ella, who is in Y5 and taking part. She said, “I think it’s quite pressurising, but it’s going to be really exiting. We came up with some brilliant ideas, and we can’t wait to share them with everyone else.”

What did you do? “We’ve been practicing how to make structures, and what shapes are best. So if you are trying to make a good structure, you need to make the base bigger and get taller and thinner.”
